Networking & Cyber Security Specialist E-Degree
Think Like a Hacker
Today’s information networks are under constant threat from theft, fraud, and sophisticated viruses. As businesses make large investments in innovative technology, they are depending more and more on specialists to protect the safety and integrity of their systems and information.
What can I expect?
Our Networking and Cyber Security Specialist E-Degree option allows you to perform actual network intrusions, so you can anticipate and defend against future threats. You will also learn how to install and manage information security systems, as well as how to gather and analyze data for computer crime investigation. You can expect to gain maximum experience in networking and security. As a student, you will spend approximately 80% of your time doing the work of a security specialist. To make sure you have the job experience you’ll need, we also require a 180-hour internship.
How does an E-Degree work?
As a Networking and Cyber Security Specialist E-Degree student, you’ll take online courses through Lake Area Tech’s eLearning system. Most of your time learning will be done at home, so you’ll only spend limited time on campus however you can expect to spend more time on campus during your second year (about 50% online, and 50% on campus). But when you do, you’ll be learning in our remodeled Computer Information Systems area!
Why an E-Degree?
Lake Area Tech E-Degrees are “hybrid” – an innovative blend of distance and on-campus learning. What’s great about that is you can keep your day job (work, raise kids) and still get a degree. With hybrid education, you get maximum flexibility to study when and where you want, but you’ll still get the chance to learn on-campus with Lake Area Tech instructors on selected projects.
