Networking & Cyber Security Hybrid E-Degree

Become a Guardian!

In today’s digital landscape, information networks face constant threats like theft, fraud, and sophisticated viruses. Businesses, investing heavily in innovative technology, rely increasingly on specialists to safeguard the integrity and security of their systems and data. Our Networking and Cyber Security option blends network administration with cybersecurity principles, focusing on deploying, managing, and fortifying networks and computer systems.

What can I expect?

Through hands-on labs and simulations, you’ll be well-prepared for real-world scenarios, as our labs continuously adapt to current threats. Our curriculum covers the latest networking and security technologies relevant to our field, including critical infrastructure sectors. Upon completion, you’ll be equipped to apply your knowledge and skills in the workforce.

During this 18-month program, you will gain extensive experience in networking and security through core classes in computer hardware, Windows and Linux operating systems, networking, security, server administration, programming, and database fundamentals. We cover industry recognized certifications, including the Cisco Systems CCNA, Palo Alto Networks PCNSA, as well as the CompTIA Secure Infrastructure Specialist certifications (A+, Network+, Security+). Other offerings include AWS Cloud Foundations and Cloud Security, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CompTIA PenTest+, and Certified Ethical Hacker courses.

Looking Ahead

Our graduates also have the option to take advantage of articulation agreements with in-state and out-of-state universities, which means when a student graduates with a two-year Associate of Applied Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Lake Area Tech, they can transition to the university with two years of study that will count towards their four-year bachelor’s degree!

How does a Hybrid E-Degree work?

As a Networking and Cyber Security hybrid e-degree student, you’ll take online courses through Lake Area Tech’s eLearning system. Most of your time learning will be done at home, so you’ll only spend limited time on campus however you can expect to spend more time on campus during your second year (about 50% online, and 50% on campus). But when you do, you’ll be learning in our remodeled Computer Information Systems area!

Why an E-Degree?

Lake Area Tech e-degrees are “hybrid” – an innovative blend of distance and on-campus learning. What’s great about that is you can keep your day job (work, raise kids) and still get a degree. With hybrid education, you get maximum flexibility to study when and where you want, but you’ll still get the chance to learn on-campus with Lake Area Tech instructors on selected projects.
