Three Lake Area Technical College Students Win SkillsUSA Medals

Lake Area Technical College Law Enforcement student Paige Frazee from Milbank, SD, received a bronze medal by placing third in the nation in the Criminal Justice competition during the SkillsUSA Championships, Cosmetology student Brittany Jensen from Bath, SD, received a silver medal by placing second in the nation in the Esthetics competition, and Computer Information Systems student Will Ostrander from DeSmet, SD received a silver medal by placing second in the nation in the Internetworking competition. Each student previously won the South Dakota competition earning the right to compete at the national event.

The 53rd annual National Leadership and Skills Conference was held June 19-23 in Louisville, Kentucky and is a showcase of career and technical education students’ skills. More than 16,000 people participated in the weeklong event.

SkillsUSA is a national organization that serves trade, industrial, technical, and health occupations students in high schools and postsecondary technical Colleges.  On a national level, there are approximately 250,000 student members.
