SEPTEMBER 10, 2012 WATERTOWN, SD….. For the ninth year in a row, Lake Area Tech has surpassed its all-time fall semester enrollment record with 1508 students. That number is a 3.2% increase over last fall semester’s total enrollment of 1468 students. The standard reporting ten day head count, indicates 930 freshman students started this fall which is a 7.9% increase over the fall of 2011.

Lake Area Tech President, Deb Shephard comments, “Lake Area Tech is excited about our growth. It is steady and manageable, which has been a significant part of our overall strategic planning. The continued growth is a reflection on the things we are doing right at Lake Area Tech like hiring the best faculty, creating a caring culture for students, developing strong student-to-student and student-to-staff relationships, giving them the skills they need for a successful career, retaining the students, and making sure they are placed upon completion.”

Lake Area Tech attributes its growth to several factors: offering programs in high-demand fields, expanding online E-Degrees, and developing new options within established programs, all of which contribute to the overall growth of the institution.
