SEPTEMBER 10, 2012 WATERTOWN, SD….. For the ninth year in a row, Lake Area Technical College has surpassed its all-time fall semester enrollment record with 1508 students. That number is a 3.2% increase over last fall semester’s total enrollment of 1468 students. The standard reporting ten day head count, indicates 930 freshman students started this fall which is a 7.9% increase over the fall of 2011.

Lake Area Technical College President, Deb Shephard comments, “Lake Area Technical College is excited about our growth. It is steady and manageable, which has been a significant part of our overall strategic planning. The continued growth is a reflection on the things we are doing right at Lake Area Technical College like hiring the best faculty, creating a caring culture for students, developing strong student-to-student and student-to-staff relationships, giving them the skills they need for a successful career, retaining the students, and making sure they are placed upon completion.”

Lake Area Technical College attributes its growth to several factors: offering programs in high-demand fields, expanding online E-Degrees, and developing new options within established programs, all of which contribute to the overall growth of the institution.
