Lake Area Technical College Distributes Student CARES Act Funds

WATERTOWN – With the passage of the Federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, Lake Area Technical College has received $884,080 in grant funds to assist students impacted by the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19.

Students determined eligible have been contacted via email by Lake Area Technical College. Grant monies will continue to be disbursed as students complete the form on their Student Portal.

Eligibility requirements include that a student must have:

  • Been enrolled at least half-time during the spring semester.
  • Maintained Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) with Lake Area Technical College.
  • Been eligible for Title IV aid as required by the CARES Act. This is determined by having filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students who have not filed a FAFSA will need to do so in order to verify eligibility.
  • Experienced additional educational-related expenses related to COVID-19. This can include incurring additional expenses for food, housing, course materials, health care and child-care expenses.
