Machine Technician – Night Shift (2023-5591)

The Digital Billboard Manufacturing Plant located in Sioux Falls, SD will support the billboard and fuel light niches within the Commercial market. The Plant will be responsible for the timely and quality production of digital billboards, fuel lights displays, and additional products as business needs demand. The Machine Technician is responsible for being proactive on the preventative maintenance schedule to work toward the goal of no unplanned machine down time.
Shift: Monday – Thursday from 4:30pm – 3:00am. This shift includes a $2.00/Hr. shift increment.
Maintenance:
Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on automated equipment on a scheduled basis.
Current automated equipment includes metal, paint, and electronic assembly equipment.
Make emergency repairs to automated manufacturing equipment including electrical mechanical and pneumatic systems.
Train machine operators and other maintenance personnel to perform maintenance tasks.
Communicate effectively over the phone to repair equipment.
Flexible hours to ensure full operation of equipment for all shifts.
Evaluate and improve existing PM programs.
Operations:
Operate automated equipment.
Input information into work orders on the details of the work performed on equipment.
Help evaluate new equipment purchases.
Evaluate new materials.
Maintain spare parts inventory. Order and inventory needed parts.
Maintain maintenance records including procedures, parts, and labor.
Make and implement suggestions for product and process improvement.
Some travel required for required training.
Perform other duties as assigned and as needed to meet customer expectations and to have equipment operating with no unplanned downtime.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Minimum two-year Associate degree in Electrical, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a similar technical field.
Manufacturing experience preferred.
Good communication skills.
Computer keyboard skills experience with Microsoft Office products. Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to organize workload and prioritize work orders according to company plan.
Work effectively as a team member, work with little supervision.
Physical requirements include the ability to:
Work in an environment with these types of smells: paint, solvent, and solder.
Frequently lift 35 lbs. Occasionally to frequently lift 45 lbs., in some work areas.
Stand for the full shift with planned breaks. The duration of standing between breaks varies from 2-3 ½ hours depending on work area.
Work from heights, including working from ladders and platforms.
Reach in all directions (up, down, side-to-side, and diagonal reaching), including some awkward reaching to insert components in difficult to reach sections of the product.
Maintain steady hand/eye coordination.
Identify wire and paint colors.
Read fine print.
Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work area in accordance with Daktronics Safety Policy and OSHA standards. Items may include the following: safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, hearing protection, electrostatic discharge wear, and others as determined necessary by Daktronics Risk and Safety Department.
Fluent in English, written and verbal.
Ability to travel by air and ground. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Motor vehicle record will be checked.
Ability to meet all workplace safety requirements, which includes following safety protocols related to COVID-19.
