Process Technician – Night Shift ($2.00/hr. shift increment) (2023-5950)

Shift: Monday – Thursday from 4:15pm to 2:45am; Overtime as needed by the business.
The selected individual will support the highly automated Printed Circuit Assembly (PCA), encapsulation processes, as well as factory test processes, and apply/adhere to standards created for them. This individual will work in support of Process and Test Engineers assigned in this area. This role is the front-line support for production issues, and is also responsible for machine programming, as well as supporting improvements in safety, quality, and productivity.
Support manufacturing to ensure Daktronics product is being manufactured in accordance with standards following Lean practices.
Resolve issues impacting production green light time (for example issues with process, product/material, or test performance) or escalate to appropriate engineer following escalation process.
Escalated support for repair technicians and other manufacturing personnel on issues related to product performance (hardware, firmware & visual), or escalate to the appropriate engineer following escalation process.
Support implementation of product/process improvements, such as adjusting factory layouts, implementing new equipment, optimizing existing equipment, and processes.
Attend and participate in daily production tier meetings.
Support products throughout their life cycle, developing and/or implementing changes as needed. Make suggestions for product and process improvements and work with various personnel to implement.
Use a methodical problem-solving approach to resolve repeating issues.
Implement and communicate engineering changes. Examples may include changes to tooling, machine programs, test programs, build instructions, etc.
Understand and support production tooling needs and order replacements as needed.
Support processes that maintain the integrity of our production equipment and the associated software management to ensure products are being built, configured, and tested in accordance with standards.
Support new product developments and product transfers between factories. Take an active role when requested in prototype, pre-production, or qualification builds.
Create needed machine & test programs for prototype, pre-production, or qualification builds.
Assist in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) assessments and ensure that they are appropriately documented and communicated.
Support development of processes that are safe, repeatable, and reliably meet design requirements.
Design, build, and implement needed workstations and tooling.
Perform work responsibilities as assigned by Production, Mfg. engineering, or MPOG which could include:
Time studies, data collection, running trials, and experiments.
Be flexible, open to change, and ready to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or leadership needed to meet customer, department, or factory needs/expectations.
Qualifications:
Associates degree in Electronics, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Computer, Robotics, Automation, or pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Knowledge of and/or ability to learn C++ and computer networking.
Knowledge of and/or ability to learn the programming of equipment such as component placement, soldering, automated inspection/testing, encapsulation, etc.
Knowledge of circuit board assembly and components preferred. Surface Mount Technology (SMT) & Through Hole (TH).
Demonstrated ability in problem solving and learning technical concepts.
Solid understanding of PC tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Glovia.
Ability to interact with a variety of personnel in a positive, professional manner.
Ability to successfully participate as a member of a team.
Consistently complete quality work in a timely manner.
Good technical writing and verbal communication skills required. Fluent in English, written and verbal.
Ability to work with minimum supervision.
Regularly and reliably work scheduled hours, flexibility to work overtime as business need dictates.
Physical requirements include the ability to:
Work in an environment with these types of smells: paint, solvent, and solder.
Frequently lift 35 lbs. Occasionally to frequently lift 45 lbs., in some work areas.
Stand for the full shift with planned breaks. The duration of standing between breaks varies from 2-3 ½ hours depending on work area.
Work from heights, including working from ladders and platforms.
Reach in all directions (up, down, side-to-side, and diagonal reaching), including some awkward reaching to insert components in difficult to reach sections of the product.
Maintain steady hand/eye coordination.
Identify wire and paint colors.
Read fine print.
Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work area in accordance with Daktronics Safety Policy and OSHA standards.
Ability to travel by air or ground. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked.
