Process/Programmer Technician (2022-4970)

Front-line of support for day-to-day production operations.
Respond to escalated production issues, assessment/diagnosis/resolution, escalated to next level process expert and production leadership as needed.
Assist in fabrication and assembly process setups and changeovers, including workstation layout, defining the appropriate equipment/tools/tooling, jigs/fixtures, and material presentation.
Initiate Nonconforming Material Notices (NC’s), Deviations (Variances), and Engineering Changes (EC’s).
Create programs for the Punch and/or Mill while following established standards and practices, focusing on:Safe operation of equipment.
Meeting part specifications and associated tolerances.
Efficient use of material, equipment, and labor associated with producing parts.
Maintain a high level of accuracy and precision while creating machine programs.
Comply with corporate Material Utilization initiative objectives.
Work closely with the team of programmers to identify opportunities to increase machine uptime and throughput on related machines.
Make Lean suggestions for product and process improvements and problem-solving activities; work with appropriate associates to implement solutions.
Assist in developing new processes and/or improving current processes. This would include creating or revising Standard Work, Work Instructions (WI’s), Process Reference Documents (PRD’s), and Job Instruction Breakdowns (JIB’s).
Other tasks as assigned or as needed.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Associates degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering Technology, Robotics or Electronics Engineering Technology preferred.Enrolled in two- or four-year Electronics Tech, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical program or equivalent work experience may be considered.
Metal fabrication experience preferred, but not required. (Punch Press and/or Mill experience preferred.)
Programming experience (with TOP’s or AutoCAD software) preferred, but not required. Ability to learn various industrial software programming systems.
Ability to learn quickly, participate as a member of a team, and work with minimum supervision.
Excel, Windows, and MS Office skills preferred.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Fluent in English, written and verbal.
Physical requirements include the ability to:Distinguish and identify wire and paint colors.
Read fine print with or without the use of corrective lenses.
Work with odors (solder/paint/solvent/manufacturing odor).
Lift and carry heavy (up to 50 lbs.) and/or awkward items.
Stand or sit for the full shift and have full range of motion (including but not limited to bending and lifting) required to perform the job function.
Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work area in accordance with Daktronics Safety Policy and OSHA standards. Items may include the following: safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, hearing protection, electrostatic discharge wear.
Ability to travel by air and ground. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked.
Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
Ability to meet all workplace safety requirements, which includes following safety protocols related to COVID-19.
