Aviation & Drone Training

The world of aviation and drone training is filled with opportunities! Lake Area Tech Corporate Ed offers classes related to small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS), commonly referred to as ‘drones.’ Whether an individual is interested in learning more about recreational drones or if more advanced knowledge is desired, we have the latest educational offerings! We also offer flight training for those interested in becoming a single-engine pilot. 

Upcoming Aviation & Drone Training Courses

aUAS Drone Remote Pilot Ground School Part 107 – ONLINE

In this six-week online course, participants will gain knowledge about the regulations and procedures governing the safe and legal operations of small unmanned aircrafts systems (sUAS), commonly referred to as ‘drones.’ The focus of this course coincides with the knowledge areas in the Federal Aviation Administration’s Part 107 airman knowledge test for a Remote Pilot Certificate with sUAS rating, and is intended to prepare participants who wish to become commercial sUAS pilots for the knowledge test. 

Date: Mondays beginning October 17, 2022

Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a tool used for managing, visualizing, and analyzing geographic data. This course introduces fundamental methods of GIS and is designed for beginners with interest in expanding data visualization and spatial analysis skills. During this 8-week series, participants will receive hands-on experience with ArcGIS Pro to explore data, visualize real-world attributes, analyze maps, and communicate spatial information. This course also provides flexibility for the busy learner with access to online and in-person classroom hours. GIS software is being used widely in almost all fields.

The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST)

Lake Area Technical College is an FAA-approved Test Administrator of The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST). TRUST is a collaboration between the FAA and industry to provide TRUST and educational safety material to Recreational Flyers. Click here to access the test.
