Aviation & Drone Training

The world of aviation and drone training is filled with opportunities! Lake Area Tech Corporate Ed offers classes related to small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS), commonly referred to as ‘drones.’ Whether an individual is interested in learning more about recreational drones or if more advanced knowledge is desired, we have the latest educational offerings! We also offer flight training for those interested in becoming a single-engine pilot. 

Recreational Drone Knowledge & Skills

Become more knowledgeable about drone terminology, rules, and regulations for recreational drone flyers versus commercial drone flyers. Participants will be introduced to the Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability (LAANC) app, which directly supports UAS integration into airspace. They will also gain knowledge on how to register their personal drones for recreational use and will have the chance to fly some of the top drones in today’s industry.

sUAS Remote Pilot Ground School

In this three-week school, participants will gain knowledge about the regulations and procedures governing the safe and legal operations of small unmanned aircrafts systems (sUAS), commonly referred to as ‘drones.’ The focus of this course coincides with the knowledge areas in the Federal Aviation Administration’s Part 107 airman knowledge test for a Remote Pilot Certificate with sUAS rating, and is intended to prepare participants who wish to become commercial sUAS pilots for the knowledge test. 

Date: Dec. 7, 9, 14, 16, 21 (optional for the 23rd as a review date)
Time: 6:00 – 9:00 PM
Location: Lake Area Tech Room 514
Cost: $300
Minimum: 6/Maximum 10 participants

The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST)

Lake Area Technical College is an FAA-approved Test Administrator of The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST). TRUST is a collaboration between the FAA and industry to provide TRUST and educational safety material to Recreational Flyers. Click here to access the test.
