Steve Trautner

Steve joined Lake Area Tech in August of 2021. He graduated from the program in 2008 (formerly Machine Tool Technology). Since then, he’s accumulated experience working at BDT in Detroit Lakes, MN, as a toolmaker for four years; at Caterpillar in Fargo, ND, for almost 10 years as a machinist;  and he has retired from the South Dakota Army National Guard as a mechanic and allied trades specialist. In his free time, Steve enjoys time with his wife, two daughters and French bulldog. He likes riding and working on his motorcycles, smoking food, hanging out with friends, fishing, hunting, and shooting sports.
