Steve Trautner

Lake Area Tech welcomed Steve, another alum, to our faculty in the Precision Machining program in August 2021. He graduated from the program in 2008 (formerly Machine Tool Technology). Since then, he’s accumulated experience working at BDT in Detroit Lakes, MN, as a toolmaker for four years; at Caterpillar in Fargo, ND, for almost 10 years as a machinist; and he is currently serving in the South Dakota Army National Guard as a senior mechanic. In his free time, Steve enjoys riding and working on motorcycles, fishing, hunting, shooting sports, golfing and smoking food. He also likes spending time with his French Bulldog.
