Megan Schmitz

Megan began her duties at Lake Area Technical College as a nursing instructor in January 2020. She earned a BSN and MSN from South Dakota State University, specializing in Nursing Education. As a Registered Nurse, Megan has worked in a variety of acute care settings including neurology, intensive care, medical/surgical, and surgery. She also worked in the long-term care setting of pediatric home health that she found very rewarding. Throughout her career as a nurse, Megan has found each area taught her new skills and knowledge that has helped shape and guide her path as a professional nurse and nurse educator. Megan currently works in an outpatient surgical center as an RN, teaches clinical instruction for a BSN program for the University of South Dakota, and is an online RN-BSN instructor for SNHU. Megan and her husband have three wonderful children (and one on the way) and a pug that keeps them on their toes. When she’s not lugging her kiddos around to hockey, baseball, or volleyball she enjoys spending time with her family on the river or in the hills.
