Karla Hernandez

Karla joined the Lake Area Tech team in August 2023 as an Agriculture instructor. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Animal Science from the University of Puerto Rico – Mayaguez; and obtained her PhD in Agronomy and Plant Sciences at South Dakota State University. Her experience includes roles as the Programs and Events Coordinator at the Milbank Chamber of Commerce; the Director and Livestock Agent II at the University of Florida, and an IFAS Extension Forages Field Specialist I at South Dakota State University – Extension. Karla enjoys learning more about agriculture in general, especially regenerative agriculture, and farming. Her family lives on a farm near Strandburg.
