Lake Area Tech Student Earns Gold Medal at National SkillsUSA Competition

WATERTOWN, SD – Lake Area Technical College Law Enforcement student, Isabele Johnson, of Sioux Falls, SD, earned a gold medal in the Criminal Justice category at the SkillsUSA National Championships in Atlanta, Georgia. Students participated in one of 108 competitions in career and technical fields. It is the largest skill competition of its kind in the world.

“We are incredibly proud of Isabele for achieving first place in her competition,” said Nikki Mark, South Dakota State SkillsUSA Director. “This outstanding accomplishment is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and the high standards of our educational programs at LATC.”

The SkillsUSA Championships took place June 24-29, as part of the SkillsUSA 61st annual National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC), a showcase of career and technical education students. During the week, over 7000 outstanding career and technical education students participated.
