What to Expect from Virtual Orientation

We look forward to welcoming you to campus this Fall, but before we do, we have a bunch of information to share with you before you arrive!

Below you will find a video that walks you through the steps on how to log-in to the Student Portal where the rest of orientation will take place.

What you can expect during Virtual Orientation:

  • Items you will need:
    • A computer or mobile device
    • Internet connection
  • Format and Timeline of Orientation:
    • You can start virtual orientation at your leisure and go at your own pace

    • This is a prerecorded event, you will not be expected to log-on or video call during any portion of this orientation
    • Orientation will follow a similar structure to our past on-campus orientation sessions:
      • You will be able to virtually meet your faculty and staff through pre-recorded videos and photos
      • View videos of faculty and staff around campus to get to know common places and important information that you should know before you arrive on campus in the Fall
      • Ability to order tools, textbooks, and laptops though the bookstore to prepare for the upcoming year
    • We will always be available for questions should they arise. Contact information for your department as well as student services will be available throughout the orientation
  • Estimated Time to Complete:
    • 1.5 – 3 Hours (at your own pace)
  • All new students are required to complete the Virtual Orientation prior to attending fall semester classes
  • Priority deadline to complete orientation is July 15, 2020
  • Please keep in mind that many programs require tools and laptops that need to be pre-ordered by July 1
