Adult Education & Literacy

Lake Area Tech’s Adult Education and Literacy program offers free classes to help adults build the skills needed to earn a GED, improve English proficiency, and prepare for the workforce.

Programs are available at no cost to eligible adults and include instruction in math, reading, writing, English language acquisition, and work readiness. Classes are designed to meet you where you are and help you build toward your next step—whether that’s job training, continued education, or a new career path.

Additional offerings include workplace literacy, family literacy, and integrated education and training programs that connect learning directly to career opportunities.

To be eligible, participants must be 18 or older, not currently enrolled in high school, and in need of skill development in one or more core areas.

This program is supported in part by Lake Area Tech, United Way, and the South Dakota Department of Labor through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), helping provide access to education, training, and support services that lead to sustainable careers. (WIOA).  Participants in WIOA-funded programs are provided with the necessary support, education, and professional training to help them excel in a career path that will pay a living wage.
