Work-Study and Part-Time Jobs
Working while attending college can help you earn income, build valuable job skills and gain real-world experience. Learn about Federal Work-Study opportunities and part-time employment resources available to Lake Area Tech students.
Federal Work-Study provides eligible students with flexible, part-time jobs that fit around class schedules while helping cover everyday expenses throughout the year.
To qualify, you’ll need to complete your FAFSA and demonstrate financial need. If you’re eligible, Work-Study will be included in your financial aid offer, where you can review and accept it.
I’ve Accepted Work-Study, What’s Next?
Once you accept Work-Study, the next step is finding the right position.
Start by attending a work-study orientation meeting the first week of school and completing your employment paperwork. Once these are complete, check out the work study job listings, all available on MyPortal.
Part-Time Jobs
Not eligible for Work-Study? You still have options.
You can explore part-time jobs through the South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation, located right on campus in The Net, or browse opportunities online.
Lake Area Tech students and graduates are encouraged to explore the job opportunities listed on our Job Board —including part-time positions, internships, and career-starting roles in your field.
