Grants

Grants usually are awarded on the basis of financial need and are not required to be repaid. You must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to apply for federal grants.

Federal Pell Grant

Federal Pell Grants are funds available to undergraduate students who have not previously earned a bachelor’s degree. Eligibility is based on need and determined by your Student Aid Index (SAI) listed on your Student Aid Report, if your SAI is high, you may not qualify for a Pell Grant. The amount of Pell Grant that a student is eligible for will be adjusted each semester and is based on the number of credits a student is enrolled in. Learn more at www.studentaid.gov.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) is a grant that is awarded to an undergraduate student who demonstrates exceptional financial need to help pay for their education.  Priority is given to students with the lowest Student Aid Index (SAI) and must also be Federal Pell Grant recipients.

South Dakota Education Access Foundation Grant

The South Dakota Education Access Foundation Grant (SDEAF Grant) is a private grant program available to undergraduate students who show need and meet eligibility requirements as determined by the institution. Must be enrolled at least half-time and submit a FAFSA.

South Dakota Need-Based Grant

The South Dakota Need-Based Grant (SDNBG) is a state grant program awarded to undergraduate South Dakota residents enrolled at least half-time. A FAFSA must be submitted to determine eligibility.
