Farm Agronomist

Yackley Ranches has a position available for a full-time person or a summer intern student or, potentially both for the right people.

Yackley Ranches is a very progressive, family owned, no-till farming operation in central South Dakota.  As a Staff Agronomist you will assist the lead agronomist and farm owners with all seasonal cropping needs. 

Duties will include, but are not limited to:  

Field scouting and reporting on all pertinent seasonal cropping issues such as fertility, soil moisture, plant health, weed and disease pests, crop maturity/harvestability.  
Drone operations, data acquisition and field surveillance.
Monitoring planting and harvest equipment and operations.
Soil and tissue testing.   
Operating soil testing equipment.   
Setting up and conducting field trials of new products, equipment and techniques. 
Manage and analyze yield data working with yield mapping software.  
Create variable rate fertility and seeding application prescriptions.
