A Construction Carpenter is responsible for constructing, installing, repairing, and maintaining wooden and other structural elements of buildings and infrastructure projects. This hands-on role involves reading blueprints, measuring, and cutting materials, assembling frameworks, and ensuring structures meet building codes and safety standards. Construction Carpenters work on a variety of projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
· Framing and structural work: Build and install frameworks such as walls, floors, doors, roofs, and partitions using wood and other materials
· Construct stairways, rafters, and support structures according to blueprints and specifications
· Erect scaffolding and temporary supports for structures under construction or repair
· Measuring and layout: Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and building plans
· Accurately measure, mark, and layout materials using measuring tools like tape measures, levels, and squares
· Cut, shape, and join wood, metal, and plastic materials using hand and power tools
· Installation work: Install windows, doors, cabinets, drywall, insulation, and siding and ensure installations are level, plumb, and square
· Maintenance and Repairs: Inspect existing structures and make necessary repairs or adjustments
· Replace damaged wood, hardware, or other materials to restore structural integrity
· Maintain tools and equipment in good working order
· Site safety and compliance: Ensure work is performed in compliance with local building codes, safety standards, and project specifications
· Keep work areas clean and organized to prevent accidents and hazards
· Collaboration and communication: Work closely with site supervisors, project managers, and other trades (e.g., electricians, plumbers).
· Take direction from foremen or lead carpenters to complete tasks efficiently
· Communicate material needs, delays, or issues as they arise on site.
