Ace Hardware Rentals & Small Engine Repair Department Manager

A construction rental department associate with small engine repair knowledge is responsible for managing the rental process of construction tools and equipment, ensuring all machinery is clean, operational, and safe for customer use. This role combines customer service, equipment logistics, inventory control, and hands-on mechanical maintenance—particularly diagnosing and repairing small engines found in generators, compactors, saws, and other power tools.

·       Customer service and rental coordination: Assist customers in selecting appropriate rental equipment for construction or landscaping projects

·       Process rental agreements, explain equipment usage and safety procedures

·       Schedule deliveries and returns of rental equipment and coordinate with drivers or logistics teams.

·       Equipment inspection and maintenance: Perform pre-rental and post-rental inspections to check for damage or wear

·       Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on small-engine tools such as: concrete saws, generators, plate compactors, pumps, chainsaws, lawn, and garden tools

·       Small engine diagnostics and repair

·       Inventory and shop management: Track rental equipment inventory and parts

·       Maintain cleanliness and organization of the rental yard and repair shop

·       Ensure tools and equipment are stored properly and ready for the next rental

·       Safety and compliance: Follow safety procedures for tool usage, repairs, and fuel handling

·       Ensure equipment meets operational and safety standards before rental
