*APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER.
Position Description: Assist the ConnectSD project manager with all aspects of the program. Duties to include but not be limited to: Review and audit new applications as well as existing grant awards/databases for accuracy; research federal grant programs; create reports and dashboards to keep information organized for accessibility, efficiency, and meaningfulness; and identify other tasks necessary to make improvements for successful program outcomes. Successful interns will learn and be introduced to the inter-workings of all aspects of the ConnectSD program, as well as other areas within GOED, per the interest of the intern.
Qualifications: Well qualified applicants will be self-motivated, able to work independently, possess excellent communication skills (writing/phone/customer service), and have scheduling and organizational abilities. Interns will need skills in Microsoft Office products; general knowledge (or ability to learn fast) of various software and web based systems including GIS maps, Google Earth, CRM and ERP systems, etc.; general knowledge of information security, data science, and how its used to drive decision making; and how economic development missions are carried out. Well qualified applicants will be pursuing degrees in Business Administration, Information Systems, Networking, or similar Information Technology or related field.
Applicant must be enrolled as a part time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
