Concrete Finisher Job Description

Job Summary:

At Scull Construction, a concrete finisher is responsible for forming, placing, and finishing concrete. This role is part of a team that prides itself in doing exceptional, large, and challenging concrete projects in the region.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Duties and Responsibilities:

Cleaning and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues
Carry forms, clean tools, tie rebar, and use a rebar bender
Set and strip forms, pour and finish flatwork
Set-up, pour, muck, screed, and finish interior and exterior to all tolerances and specifications with attention to detail to provide an acceptable uniform product
Able to be trained to run a gas saw, Bobcat, and forklift
Be dependable to your team: You work as a team and progress as a team

Required Skills/Abilities:

Minimum of 5 years of concrete experience
Willingness to learn and master new tasks, duties, and responsibilities
Identify and communicate any job site hazards
Safely and correctly operate all equipment and manual/power tools. Do not use or operate any equipment or tools that you have not been trained to operate properly
Keep all tools in good, clean, and operating order
Demonstrate and promote safety and proper housekeeping on all job sites
Display a positive attitude towards the company, fellow employees, and customers
Be ready to help with any task, even if it is below your skill level
Take direction and accomplish duties outlined by your supervisor and ask questions when you do not understand the task
Be responsible for working unsupervised for periods of time and complete work as directed
Ability to instruct and direct laborers and other construction helpers in a positive and encouraging manner

Other Requirements:

Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and random employee pool drug/alcohol testing
Must have personal transportation to and from job sites, including out-of-town work
Must arrive on time to job site fit for duty for required shift and have personal protective equipment (PPE) and necessary tools with you.
Attend all safety meetings and maintain safe job site practices following company policy
Wear and maintain PPE as directed by supervisor and safety team, including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, and high visibility vests
Willingness to travel out-of-town
Work overtime as required, including some weekends
Maintain acceptable personal hygiene
Dress appropriately for winter working conditions

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds regularly throughout the work shift
Must be able to work at heights over 10 feet
Must be physically able to work a minimum of 8 hours a day and overtime as needed
Must be able to stand and kneel for long periods, work on your knees, lift heavy materials, and work outdoors in high heat and cold weather condition
