Job Summary
The Custom Applicator is responsible for the precise, safe, and efficient application of fertilizers and crop protection products to customer fields. This role involves operating and maintaining specialized application equipment, adhering to all safety and regulatory guidelines, and providing excellent customer service. The applicator plays a vital role in ensuring optimal crop health and productivity for our clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Application Operations:

Operate field application equipment (e.g., sprayers, floaters, spreaders, tender trucks) to accurately apply dry and liquid fertilizers, pesticides, and other agricultural chemicals at approved rates.
Calibrate equipment and utilize precision agriculture technology, such as GPS guidance systems and variable rate technology, to ensure accurate product placement.
Mix and load products according to label directions and company/regulatory protocols.
Equipment Management:

Perform pre-trip, daily, and post-trip vehicle inspections and basic preventative maintenance on all application equipment and vehicles.
Clean, maintain, and ensure all equipment is in good working order and appearance.
Assist mechanics with complex maintenance and repairs as needed.
Compliance & Record Keeping:

Maintain detailed and accurate application/spray records, including product used, rates, weather conditions, and field conditions, in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Operate safely and in compliance with all environmental and company safety policies, including Lock-out-Tag-out (LOTO) and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Customer Service & Teamwork:

Organize and coordinate application schedules with customers and the agronomy team.
Communicate courteously and effectively with customers, answering questions and educating them on the products and application techniques being used.
Assist in general labor duties, warehouse work, and product delivery during the off-season or as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Must be over age 18 and eligible to work in the United States.
Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, during peak seasons.
Physical ability to perform heavy work, including frequently lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and working in all weather and dusty conditions.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
Possession of or ability to obtain a Commercial Pesticide Applicator License (required).
Possession of or ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class A or B, with endorsements (e.g., Haz Mat, air brakes, tanker) is highly preferred.
1+ years of experience in agriculture production, operations, or custom application.
Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to perform routine equipment maintenance.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting safety rules, procedure manuals, and product labels.
Strong attention to detail, organizational, and math skills.
