This position offers an agreed upon flexible schedule.  

Maintenance:  

Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on automated equipment on a scheduled basis.    Current equipment includes Surface Mount line (component placement, soldering, automated optical inspection, encapsulation), automated insertion, soldering machines, and robots.   
Current automated equipment in the metal fabrication includes a sheet handler, CNC metal punch, sanding machine, press brakes, mill, and paint booth.    
Preventative maintenance will also be needed on various other tools and equipment as deemed necessary.  

Assist machine tech with emergency repairs to automated manufacturing equipment including electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems in Electronic Assembly, Metal Fabrication, Paint, and other areas as needed.   
Assist in training machine operators and other maintenance personnel to perform maintenance tasks.  

Operations:  

Be flexible, open to change, and ready to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or leadership needed to meet customer, department, or factory needs/expectations.   
Follow the escalation process, meeting the communication requirements and timelines called for in that process on daily basis.   
Maintain spare parts inventory.   
Maintain maintenance records including procedures, parts, and labor.   
Identify and implement suggestions for improvements.   
Participate in problem solving activities to identify root cause of problems. Assist with implementation of countermeasures to prevent the problems from reoccurring.   
Pursue and acquire training on equipment operation and maintenance. Travel may be required.   
Meet or exceed customer service expectations set by production leadership and machine tech leadership.   
Participate in all meetings as needed (examples: shift change, tier meetings, problem solving efforts, 1-1’s with lead technician and/or supervisor, daily engineering meetings as applicable to shift).   
Flex hours to ensure full operation of equipment for all shifts. Work overtime when needed.   

Qualifications:
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Education Requirement: 1st or 2nd Year technical college student.      
Willingness to learn and follow the assistant machine technician development plan and complete it.   
Willingness to learn new computer software.   
Possess basic computer skills.   
Customer service mindset.   
Demonstrated ability in problem solving and troubleshooting.   
Ability to interact with a variety of personnel in a positive, professional manner.   
Ability to successfully participate as a member of a team and lead by example, meeting Daktronics high performance standards in the performance dimensions for machine technicians and production.   
Consistently complete quality work in a timely manner.   
Ability to work with minimal supervision.   
Ability to learn quickly. Open to change and willing to receive feedback, taking leader guidance to apply changes when necessary.   
Good technical writing and verbal communication skills required. Fluent in English, both written and verbal.   

Physical requirements include the ability to:   
Work in an environment with these types of smells: paint, solvent, and solder.   
Frequently lift 35 lbs. Occasionally to frequently lift 45 lbs., in some work areas.   
Stand for the full shift with planned breaks. The duration of standing between breaks varies from 2-3 ½ hours depending on work area.   
Work from heights, including working from ladders and platforms.   
Reach in all directions (up, down, side-to-side, and diagonal reaching), including some awkward reaching to insert components in difficult to reach sections of the product.   
Maintain steady hand/eye coordination.   
Identify wire and paint colors.   
Read fine print.  

Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work area in accordance with Daktronics Safety Policy and OSHA standards.  Items may include the following: arc flash equipment, safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, hearing protection, electrostatic discharge wear, and others as determined necessary by Daktronics Risk and Safety Department.   
Ability to travel by air and ground. Valid driver’s license and good driving record.  Motor vehicle records will be checked.   
Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.   
Follow lockout/tagout and arc flash procedures.   
Ability to meet all workplace safety requirements, which includes following safety protocols related to COVID-19.
