This position is a technical engineering role that will be responsible for proactively managing manufacturing quality in our Redwood Falls Manufacturing factory. The position will report directly to the Divisional Quality Engineer and functionally to the Quality Engineer. As feeder departments, these areas are responsible for maintaining a constant supply of electronic components to the final assembly factories.

Support lean activities through active participation for those items that may affect quality. 
Support Corporate and Division wide rollout of quality assurance tools and processes. 
Develop and maintain quality work instructions procedures guidelines and necessary tooling equipment. 
Complete projects with quality work in a timely manner. 
Perform other duties as assigned or needed to support the efforts of Daktronics. 
Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work area in accordance with Daktronics Safety Policy and OSHA standards. Items may include the following: safety glasses, safety shoes, boots, hearing protection, electrostatic discharge wear, and others as determined necessary by Daktronics Environmental Health and Safety Department.  

Quality Assurance tools and Process Improvement 

Assist Quality Engineering with reviewing and analyzing processes and equipment operations to improve overall product quality, manufacturing capability, process control, and scrap reduction. 
Develop and maintain internal and external quality metrics for work produced by manufacturing as well as other functional areas as appropriate. Summarize findings for monthly corporate operations review.  
Develop and improve product and process performance feedback using trending, Pareto, and other quality tools.  
Analyze and present the data information to support improvement activities. Effectively problem solve using tools such as A3, 8D/CAPA, Fishbone Diagram. 
Support supplier quality activities including the evaluation of components and assemblies for first articles, new supplier qualifications, supplier quality metrics, supplier review meetings, and continuous improvement. 
Monitor and control nonconforming material and provide feedback to the provider of material (internal and external). Assist manufacturing with evaluation and disposition of this material and help facilitate root cause. 
Support new product introduction and product transfers.  

Quality Management Systems 

Support a Closed-Loop Quality Management system; Non-Conformances (NC), Temporary Deviation Request (Variance), Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA), or other as implemented at Daktronics. 
Support compliance with ISO9001 and EN12966. 

Qualifications
Associate degree in Electronics, Electronics Technology, Robotics, or similar to degree is preferred. High school diploma or GED with 5+ years of Daktronics production experience (preferably in Electronic Assembly) may be considered. 
Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. 
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices preferred. 
Knowledge of quality tools Pareto diagrams, fishbone diagrams, scatter plots, 8D problem solving, etc. preferred.  Windchill system experience preferred.  
Statistical Process Control (SPC) skills preferred. 
Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and industry standards. 
Good technical writing and verbal communication skills required. 
Good analytical skills along with a solid understanding of PC tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Glovia. 
Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment. 

Physical Requirements: 
Ability to work around odors, including solder, paint, solvent, or general manufacturing odor. 
Ability to frequently lift and carry of up to 35 lbs. In some areas, the ability occasionally to frequently lift and carry up to 45 lbs.   
The ability to stand for the full shift (up to 10 hours) with planned breaks. The duration of standing between breaks varies from 2 hours to 3 ½ hours depending on the work area. 
Must have steady hand-eye coordination in order to manipulate and place small components. 

Ability to successfully participate as a member of a team. 
Ability to work with minimum supervision. 
Ability to learn quickly. 
Good communication skills. Fluent in English, written and verbal.
