FLSA Status:    Nonexempt

Grade:             Law Enforcement Support Series

 

General Statement of Duties

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Corrections Officer, is responsible for performing dispatch/secretarial duties in a corrections setting.

 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

1.      Serve as an office receptionist answering the telephone, perform computer searches, dispatching radio traffic and greeting individuals.  Answer questions and schedule appointments for the Jail.  Direct individuals to the appropriate personnel.  Obtain pertinent information from callers and walk-in public and make computer entry to calls for services.

2.      Perform computer entry.

3.      Log incoming and outgoing inmate mail.

4.      Screen and schedule visitors at the Detention Center

5.      Handle calls that come into the Department as well as being able to dispatch emergencies and at any other time during the day.

6.      Handle confidential and sensitive material.

7.      Perform duties in a manner consistent with safe practices and policies.

8.      Perform other duties and functions as deemed necessary.

 

Minimum Qualifications

1.      High School Diploma or G.E.D Certification

2.      Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment to include typewriter, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer software, etc.

3.      Ability to function effectively under stress.

4.      Ability to demonstrate good communication skills.

5.      Ability to maintain a professional relationship with the general public and other employees.

6.      Ability to demonstrate good organizational skills.
