Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 am – 4 pm

What you will do:

As a Setup Machinist for Backdraft MFG, you will set up and configure CNC machines, utilize a range of precision measuring instruments to inspect in-process and finished parts, ensuring they meet blueprint specifications. You will also access feature characteristics and manufacturing methods to maintain quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

-Load, set, and verify all cutting tools, fixtures, and materials per setup specifications to ensure efficient operation.
-Contribution to improving profitability through efficient machining techniques and reducing waste.
-Replace dull or broken tools to maintain production quality and efficiency.
-Adjust tool and home offsets to ensure precision and accuracy in machining process.
-Monitor machine operations to ensure adherence to quality standards, adjusting speeds, feeds, and tooling as necessary.
-Verify that finished product meets acceptable tolerances according to blueprint specifications.

 Level 1 Qualifications:

-Set up and configure CNC machines, including securing fixture components and workpieces according to job specifications.
-Perform vice setups and operate essential equipment such as saws, lathes, and mills.
-Demonstrate strong knowledge of machining methods, metal cutting properties, and tooling applications.
-Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
-Understand and apply CNC code (G-code/M-code) and basic programming to adjust and optimize machine operations.

Level 2 Qualifications:

-Capable of performing non-vice setups with accuracy and efficiency.
-Proficient in setting up both lathes and mills for advanced machining operations.

Education and Requirements:

-Two-year machining degree from a technical college or 5-10 years of relevant experience.
-Compensation: $25-30/Hour DOE
