The Foundation’s annual events support Lake Area Technical College’s infrastructure, students, and programs.

Boulder Memorial Golf Tournament

The 23rd Annual LATC Alumni Boulder Memorial Golf Tournament has been rescheduled to Monday, July 27, 2026 at the Prairie Winds Golf Club (555 S Lake Dr, Watertown, SD). Hosted by the Lake Area Technical College Foundation, the event benefits student scholarships.

Key Event Details

  • Check-in: 10:30 a.m. CT
  • Calcutta: 11:30 a.m. CT
  • Shotgun Start: 12:00 p.m. CT
  • Format: Two-person, team stroke play using “Tin Whistle” scoring

Registration & Requirements

  • Entry Fee: $200 per 2-person team
  • Deadline: Sign up by July 22
  • Capacity: Limited to 36 teams on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Handicap: A verified GHIN or League Handicap card is required for tournament payouts

Meet the Keynote Speaker – Sarah Wells

Meet Sarah Wells – excellence isn’t just who she is, it’s what she helps unlock in others. She is an Olympian, keynote speaker, excellence architect, mom to Everleigh, and cookie connoisseur. Sarah doesn’t just talk about overcoming adversity, she hurdled it on the world’s biggest stage. She even raced across deserts, mountains, and international airports on The Amazing Race, proving once again that grit, adaptability, and a little bit of laughter go a long way. Her mission is to prove that excellence is not exclusive, it’s contagious!

Sarah’s philosophy centers on the idea that excellence isn’t about perfection, it’s about breaking free from limiting beliefs and constantly striving to outperform who you were yesterday. She believes that when you dare to break the blueprint, chase crazy ideas, and focus on doing the small things exceptionally well, excellence becomes contagious, elevating not just your life but those around you. Renowned for her practical strategies and compelling storytelling, and cell phone charging energy, Sarah empowers audiences to find their own excellence, transform challenges into opportunities for growth, and achieve lasting success.

Evening Event Topic: Overcoming Hurdles: Embracing Change & Turning Obstacles Into Opportunities

Change is constant, and how we respond to it defines the trajectory of our success.

  • Keynote Event for the Public – 7:00 PM

Audience: Students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Staff Training Event Topic: The Pursuit of Excellence: How to Cultivate Unstoppable Excellence in Yourself and Your Organization

Excellence isn’t reserved for a select few – it’s a mindset that anyone can adopt, no matter who you are, or where you begin.

Schedule:

  • Staff Training Session (45 Minutes) – 3:15-4 PM

Audience: This session is for faculty/staff members at Lake Area Technical College

Annual Festival of Trees

Since 2000, the Foundation has hosted the event on the Friday before Thanksgiving. The Festival is a gala event featuring both Silent and Live auctions. Individuals, businesses, and corporations donate beautifully decorated Christmas trees, wreaths, holiday ensembles, and other unique items for guests to bid on. Each donation adds to the fun and excitement, making this event a crowd favorite year after year!
