Dental Training Courses

Lake Area Tech Corporate Ed offers Dental Training Courses designed to proved the dental professional additional training and continuing education units. 

Dental Workshops

The Lake Area Tech Dental Assisting program hosts a fall workshop and a spring workshop for dental health teams. Continuing Ed credits apply. Watch this page for topic details and registration information. 

Home Study Dental Radiology Continuing Education

The programs consist of radiology safety and x-ray production. All programs consist of a CD and a worksheet. After completing the program, a short quiz is taken and returned to the school and then a certificate will be sent out. Each section is $30 and is approved by the SD Board of Dentistry for 1 hour of credit. Email Nicole Pahl at nicole.pahl@lakeareatech.edu to have packets sent to you.

Intro to Basic Concepts in Dental Radiology

Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

This course has been approved by the South Dakota Board of Dentistry, to satisfy the educational requirement leading to “verification of competency.” This course is for dental assistants who have let their licenses lapse as well as for assistants that have at least one year work experience as a chairside dental assistant in a dental practice and want to obtain their certificate of registration through the state board of dentistry to legally perform expanded functions in South Dakota.

Participants may enroll for any segment of the program. Participants need to be aware that they will be required to spend an equal amount of time reviewing on-line instruction in addition to the hands-on courses. Total number of hours to complete the course is approximately 60 hours on-line preparation and 40 hours of hands-on instruction.

1. Students must complete the online modules with 80% or better competency prior to the hands-on portion on campus.
2.Retakes are granted, however, there will be a $75.00 fee per retake granted.
Completion of the entire course is required for a verification of competency certificate.
