Lake Area Tech’s Corporate Ed division offers a variety of Business and Computer training courses designed to provide participants a new skillset or build on their existing skillsets. We offer courses throughout the school year at Lake Area Tech but we can easily customize a course or workshop to meet the needs of a business. Whether you’re an individual who’d like to learn computer or business basics or advanced skills; or you’re an employer who’d like to customize a class for employees, you’ve come to the right place! Building Mental Wellness for a Healthy Workplace – NEW!

This training series consists of five modules, each building on the prior. The first four training modules are 60 minutes in length and can be flexible in the delivery method depending on the company’s needs. These four modules are appropriate for all employees. The final module is 60 minutes long and will require a workgroup of leaders in the company that is invested in creating a healthy workplace culture. Consultation sessions are generally limited to no more than two hours depending on the needs of the company.

Conflict Resolution at the Workplace – Virtual Option Available

Workplace conflicts can occur when employees with different work and communication styles are put into one team or department. Conflicts can and should be managed to provide a healthy and productive work environment. During this four-hour seminar, participants will learn about different types of conflicts and the stages through which conflict progresses. They will also be empowered with tools and skills to manage and resolve the conflict. The core of this seminar is communication – which is often both the root and remedy of conflicts. The class is for managers, leaders, and team members who want to improve their communication skill to not only manage conflicts but also avoid them before they happen.

Leading Teams – Develop Your Leadership Skills (For new managers/ team leaders) Virtual Option Available

If teams are poorly managed, performance decreases, conflicts increase, the company loses money and employees. The skills required to effectively lead teams do not come naturally for most people. Managers must persistently learn, adapt, and improve upon their leadership skills to create, motivate, and drive a high performing team. During this four-hour seminar, participants learn different styles (manager vs. leader), team dynamics, leading procedures and tools, motivation, communication, dealing with conflicts, and creating a culture of high performance and collaboration. Who should attend? This leadership skills training is designed for individuals with little or no prior knowledge of managing teams. Also, new managers, assistant managers or team leaders and everyone who wants to step up in their career is welcome.

Managing Successful Projects – Virtual Option Available

Project management focuses on planning and organizing a project and allocating resources. If projects are badly managed a company “burns” valuable working time, money, and other resources. This seminar combines the essential elements of Project Management and critical knowledge about human communication to form a high performing team. To work together effectively on any project, everyone on the team needs to understand the principles of project management, this seminar covers topics like the project framework and phases, roles and hierarchy, proven tools and techniques, delegating and controlling, and finally the successful completion of a project. Who should attend? This four-hour Project Management seminar is designed for individuals with little or no prior knowledge of project management. Also, new managers and team leaders, and subject-matter experts from any field who contribute to projects.
