Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a tool used for managing, visualizing, and analyzing geographic data. This course introduces fundamental methods of GIS and is designed for beginners with interest in expanding data visualization and spatial analysis skills. During this 8-week series, participants will receive hands-on experience with ArcGIS Pro to explore data, visualize real-world attributes, analyze maps, and communicate spatial information. This course also provides flexibility for the busy learner with access to online and in-person classroom hours. GIS software is being used widely in almost all fields. GIS software is used by individuals, communities, research institutions, environmental scientists, health organizations, land use planners, businesses, and government agencies at all levels.

Dates: Wednesdays starting July 6, 2022 (8-week series)
Time: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Location: Lake Area Tech Student Center
Cost: $550 per person
Minimum of 5 participants, maximum of 25.
