Upcoming Adult & Community Education Opportunities

Capturing Stunning Photos & Videos with Drones

In this six-week series, participants will learn essential techniques to take their drone aerial photography and videography to the next level! This series will cover basic drone components, accessories, operations, editing, rules and regulations, monetizing, and so much more. This series is appropriate for both beginners and advanced drone pilots.

Date: January 11, 18, 25, February 1, 8, 15
Time: 6:00 – 8:00 PM
Length: six weeks, 12 hours total that meets every Tuesday
Location: Lake Area Tech Room 514
Cost: $200
Maximum: 10

Basic Class Overview (subject to change according to class experience)
Week 1 Drone basics – registering, models, accessories, ways to monetize
Week 2 Drone Pre-flight – flight checklist, FAA rules, FPV menu, Controller buttons, insurance, apps
Week 3 Drone Flying – basic controls, sticks, camera controls, spend time doing exercises with drones
Week 4 Drone Photography – operating the camera, thinking from new perspective, shooting panorama, HD
Week 5 Drone Videography – operating the camera, settings, introducing movement, shot list
Week 6 Editing photos/videography – Intro into editing, basic video editing, tips

Social Media for Your Business

In this three-hour class, participants will receive a crash course in managing their social media platforms for their business or organization. Participants will learn how social media marketing can help grow their business while also stressing the importance of an overall marketing plan in this ever-changing industry! Learning outcomes will include building a content calendar while formulating a plan on how to execute it. Learn how to create content that stands out and how to build brand awareness so customers think of YOU when they are looking to purchase your products or services!

Additional topics include:

  • Why having social media influence is important to your business.
  • How to build your presence on social media for your business.
  • How promotion and advertising work on social media.
  • The time and investment to hire an outside agency.
  • Continuing trends in the industry and much more!

Introduction to Drones

Become more knowledgeable about drone terminology, rules, and regulations for recreational drone flyers versus commercial drone flyers. Participants will be introduced to the Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability (LAANC) app, which directly supports UAS integration into airspace. They will also gain knowledge on how to register their personal drones for recreational use and will have the chance to fly some of the top drones in today’s industry.

QuickBooks for Beginners (Evening Series)

This class will answer most of the basic questions facing QuickBooks users today, including setting up and maintaining customer, vendor, and employee accounts. Participants will learn how to do the basic day-to-day activities such as creating invoices and statements, entering and paying bills, setting up and maintaining an inventory, paying employees, and setting up and paying sales use tax.
