Why did you choose to attend Lake Area Tech?
Lake Area Technical College had a great reputation of being one of the top tech colleges in the country. My family always said it was the “Harvard of Technical Colleges”. When I toured, the professors I spoke with impressed me, and I enjoyed watching the students do hands-on prep for Robot Games. Getting an excellent, hands-on education with instructors who really seemed to care about their students, were deciding factors.

Where are you employed today?
Mayo Clinic-Rochester Campus

What was your favorite thing about Lake Area Tech?
I enjoyed the hands-on aspect of my classes that had real life application. Additionally, the professors connected to me as a person, not just as a student.

What was the biggest lesson you learned at Lake Area Tech?
The importance of going above and beyond and really stretching yourself above what you think you can do.

What made you want to continue your education?
My parents always stressed education past high school, and I knew I would not enjoy the traditional college route. I knew I could fit into Lake Area Tech.

What advice would you give a current Lake Area Tech student?
Be on time. Don’t be afraid to ask for help whenever you need it. Build connections with your classmates and professors.

What makes you proud to be an alumni of Lake Area Tech?
The excellent education I received. It is one of the best Tech Colleges in the nation, and I would recommend it to anyone.

What advice can you give to Lake Area Tech students that will be entering the workforce?
Be open-minded in job searches, and don’t be afraid to take risks and put yourself out there. I never thought I would be able to apply my degree to gain a position in a medical field, especially at Mayo Clinic. Lake Area Tech will have you prepared to do anything you dream of.
