Why did you choose to attend Lake Area Tech?
After graduating high school, I was ready to diveinto a program that aligned with my interests. LakeArea Tech offers hands-on experiences, smaller class sizes, and staff members who want you to succeed. With affordable two-year programs and a strong education, I was able to enter the workforce early – something I knew I wanted from the start. Lake Area Tech helped me achieve that goal

What was your favorite thing about Lake Area Tech?
I really enjoyed the variety of ag classes which prepared me well for my internships. They gave me a glimpse into the real-world ag industry and taught me skills that I still use today.
What was the biggest lesson you learned at Lake Area Tech?
Attend student activities Lake Area offers and join campus organizations. Getting involved is a great way to meet new people, learn more about the campus, and make college fun!
What made you want to continue your education?
Growing up on a dairy farm in southern Minnesota, I always knew I wanted to be part of the ag industry. I chose to continue my education because I wanted to better understand the constant changes in agriculture and knew Lake Area Tech would help me do that through a program specifically designed for this.
What advice would you give a current Lake Area Tech student?
Network! Building relationships with instructors, classmates, and other campus team members is important. They are there to support you and help guide your academic and career decisions.
What makes you proud to be an alumni of Lake Area Tech?
I am proud to be an alumna of Lake Area Tech because of the lasting connections I have made. I met lifelong friends here and still enjoy attending college events from time to time. It is exciting to see the campus continue to grow over the years. Lake Area Tech played a key role in helping achieve my career goals. A special shoutout to Julie Stevenson (previous LATC Foundation Executive Director) and the Foundation office!
What advice can you give to Lake Area Tech students that will be entering the workforce?
Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone when exploring internships and career opportunities. I was hesitant at first to move hours away from home but looking back, it was one of the best decisions I’ve made. The people I met, the opportunities I gained, and the real-life experiences I had played a huge role in shaping who I am today.
