Agriculture Business

The Agriculture Business program at Lake Area Technical College prepares students for rewarding careers in today’s fast-paced agriculture industry. This hands-on degree program combines agricultural science, agribusiness management, and precision technology to give students the skills to successfully operate and manage farms, ranches, and agribusiness operations.

Students learn core topics such as ag accounting, agronomy, livestock production, farm financial management, commodity marketing, and agricultural law and compliance. The curriculum integrates business principles with modern agricultural practices to develop leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills that employers value.

Real-world experience is built into the program through supervised occupational training that connects classroom learning with practical applications in the field. Students graduate ready for careers in farm management, ag finance, sales, marketing, precision ag, and agronomy services, or to continue their education through university transfer opportunities.

Students also have the opportunity to prepare for the Commercial Applicator Certification, a valuable credential for those pursuing careers in crop management, agronomy and custom application. While Lake Area Tech does not administer the certification exam directly, instructors provide preparation support and guidance to help students succeed.
