Heather joined the Lake Area Tech team in August 2021 as a General Education/Psychology instructor. Her education includes an Associate’s Degree in Human Services, a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service Administration, and a Master’s Degree in Psychology, all online through Purdue University. She was an Adjunct Instructor for LATC during the 2020-2021 school year for Introduction to Psychology and Psychology of Human Relations. She is also an adjunct for Mount Marty University and has taught Introduction to Psychology, Physiological Psychology, Research Methods, Introduction to Alcoholism, and more. Heather is the President of 4 the Kids SD, a nonprofit that pays for student lunches in Codington, Hamlin, and Clark counties in SD. She is a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for the 3rd Judicial Circuit Court in South Dakota where she advocates for children that have been removed from their homes due to child abuse and neglect by making sure their needs are met while they are within the foster care program and transitioning back into their homes. Heather lives in Watertown with her significant other, Jon, and has two children, Jacob and Hailey. They have three dogs, Freckles, Max, and Abby; two cats, Wesley, and Chloe. In her free time, she enjoys reading, watching movies, and going to concerts.
