Andrea Opitz

Andrea joined the Lake Area Tech team in August 2024 as a General Education instructor teaching Leadership in the Global Workplace. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Northern State University and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University.

Before joining LATC, Andrea taught in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and spent three years as an Elementary Education Teacher in Barrow, Alaska. She later held multiple leadership roles over 12 years in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, including Advanced Science Placement Coordinator and Academic Vice Principal. In addition to her work in education, Andrea launched and managed a boutique, gaining hands-on experience in business operations and customer engagement. Her hobbies include international traveling (50+ countries), photography, and exploring sports like white water rafting, diving, skydiving, and dune bashing. She is originally from Eden, SD, and currently lives in Watertown.
