COURSE:  PN 110 – Medical Terminology

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  Medical Terminology is a programmed course of study which includes building words, defining and recognizing words used in the health field.

 

LENGTH OF COURSE:  17 Hours     .5 Semester Credit

 

PLACEMENT OF COURSE:  Fall Semester

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

1.   Build medical words using:

      a.   prefixes

      b.   suffixes

      c.    root words

 

2.   Define medical words using:

      a.   prefixes

      b.   suffixes

      c.    root words

 

3.   Use medical dictionaries.

 

METHODS AND EVALUATION:

Methods of teaching include student self-study and worksheets.

 

Each set of assignments makes up a larger unit.  The student will be evaluated after each unit through matching and completion tests.  The student must maintain a 90% average.  If 90% is maintained, no final exam need be taken.
