Terry Peterson

Home Town: Iroquois, South Dakota

Terry came to LATI diesel from Iroquois SD. He will be the first student to graduate from the diesel program having taken and passed all of the medium / heavy duty truck, ASE truck tests; which makes him MASTER CERTIFIED. These test involve; preventive maintenance, suspensions and steering, diesel engines, gasoline engines, brakes, electrical / electronic systems, HVAC and drive train. Also Terry was elected by his fellow students to be the president of the diesel club. Terry is also the first person in his family to continue his education beyond high school.

Darby Nelson

Home Town: Brookings, South Dakota

Accomplishments: Darby recently graduated from the Lake Area Technical Institute-Diesel Technology program. He was the Diesel Technology Student Ambassador for 2006-07. Darby received the Foundation Honors scholarship and the Don Lindahl Outstanding Student scholarship while at LATI. Two of Darby’s brothers are also graduates of Lake Area Tech. Darby is currently working at Butler Caterpillar in Sioux Falls SD.

Scott Moberg

Home Town: Brookings, South Dakota

Accomplishments: Scott was involved in FFA in high school and was State Secretary of PAS while at LATI . He now is a diesel technician at Eugene Beckman & Sons Implement the John Deere dealer in Brookings, SD. Scott has received electrical, hydraulic and service advisor certification while at Beckman implement.

Scott is a second generation graduate of the LATI Diesel Technology program. His dad graduated from Diesel Technology in 1979.

Corey Mushitz

Home Town: Miller, South Dakota

Accomplishments: Worked at Butler Machinery in Sioux Falls, SD during the summer of 1999. After graduation, he went to work for Hartley Trucking from 1999 to 2005 beginning as a truck service technician. Because he is a life-long learner, Corey advanced quickly and became an expert troubleshooter of electronic diesel engines. In the fall of 2005, Corey became an Diesel Technology instructor at LATI. He currently teaches Diesel engine Tune-up & Troubleshooting, Air Conditioning, Basic Diesel Engines and Preventive Maintenance.
