Application Process

All steps of the application process must be completed by the application deadline to be considered for the program.

Applications for the full-time program that begins August 2011 will be accepted from September 1, 2010 through March 4, 2011. The application process must be complete by March 4, 2011 to be considered for the fall 2011 class.

Applications for the part-time program that begins January 2011 will be accepted from April 1, 2010 through October 1, 2010. The application process must be complete by October 1, 2010 to be considered for the spring 2011 class.

1.) Submit completed application and $20 fee, or apply using the Online Application.

2.) Complete Kaplan Nursing School Entrance Exam.

This exam is offered at Lake Area Tech Monday through Friday at 8 am, 11 am and 2 pm. (A photo ID must be presented to take exam.) Selected Saturday testing is also available. Check with the Admissions Office for dates. The exam must be completed by the application deadline to ensure evaluation for acceptance to the nursing program.  The entrance exam may be taken twice in a calendar year with a minimum of 30 days between the dates.

The entrance exam takes about 3 hours to complete and has four parts:  Math Skills, Reading, Science and Writing.

The cost for the exam is $35.00.  The Kaplan Nursing School Entrance Exams:  Your Complete Guide to Getting Into Nursing School study guide is recommended to use to prepare for the exam.  The guide is available through www.amazon.com or may be checked out from the Admissions Office for two weeks for a $35 deposit after July 1, 2010.

3.) Submit official high school and college transcripts

Transcripts must have an official school seal -copies will not be accepted.

4.) Verify completed application with the Admission Assistant at 1-800-657-4344 Ext. 290.

Acceptance to the Online Practical Nursing program will be based on the following criteria:

• Kaplan Nursing School Entrance Exam score
• Recent GPA
• Completion of pre-requisite/recommended courses
