APPLICATION PROCESS
- Submit completed application and fee

- Complete Computerized Nursing Entrance Test (CNET)
(Friday, December 14, 2007 deadline)
This exam is offered at Lake Area Tech Monday through Friday at 8:30 AM, 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM. CNET tests must be completed by Friday, December 14, 2007 to ensure evaluation for acceptance in the fall 2008 Practical Nursing Program.
The CNET takes about two and one half hours to complete and has seven parts: Essential Math Skills, Reading Rate, Reading Comprehension, Social Decisions, Stressful Situations, Learning Styles, and Test-Taking Skills.
The cost for the CNET exam is $25.00. A study guide is available at the admissions office to help prepare for the CNET for a deposit of $25.00. Contact ext. 290 for further information regarding this process.
- Submit official high school and college transcripts
(Friday, December 14, 2007 deadline)
Transcripts must have an official school seal - copies will not be accepted.
- Verify completed file with the Admissions Assistant, ext 290
Admission files must be completed by, Friday, December 14, 2007, to be evaluated for acceptance in the fall 2008 Practical Nursing Program

ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA
Admission is competitive. Acceptance into the program will be based on the following criteria:
- CNET Score
A Composite Score of 70% and a Reading Percentile Rank of 65 is required with college transfer work. If no college transfer work is completed a Composite Score of 75% and a Reading Percentile Rank of 70 is required. (CNET testing deadline is Friday, December 14, 2007).
- GPA
Most recent GPA of 3.0 or better.
Applicants will be notified of acceptance or denial by letter.
Students accepted into the Practical Nursing program will be asked to make an appointment with the department head of the nursing program.
Students will also be required to provide a record of the following for the student file by the beginning of the school year:
- Current adult, child, and infant AED/CPR certification
- A course in first aid
- A physical examination
- Current immunizations, including MMR, DPT, polio, rubella titer
- Mantoux test, current within the last year
- Hepatitis series, either completed or in progress of completion
Individuals who are certified aides or who have successfully completed the Lake Area Multi District health occupations course will be granted 2 credits for prior learning when a record of completion is made available to the Admissions Office.
