The Machine Tool Department advisory committee is comprised of representatives from industry, faculty, and administrators. The representatives are selected trying to model the businesses and positions the graduates are going to work for. The council meets formally at least once a year with multiple informal meetings.
The council makes recommendations for equipment and curriculum and gives insight in the current trends in industry and education and review performance of the program. They also help the program solicit donations.
