Paul Brandt

Paul Brandt is a Building Trades Technology instructor at LATI for 18 years. His education in construction started in the work force and combined time at the USDS to achieve his BSE in education in 1978. Paul has worked in varying jobs including lumberyard management at Lampert Lumber Company, to owning his own construction company. His experience is used to educate the different qualities used in the building construction field. Paul has been directly involved with the Student Chapter of Home Builders and Student Chapter of Associated General Contractors. Paul is married, has 2 married daughters, and blessed with 4 grandchildren.

Randy J. Carl

Randy J. Carl

Randy has been in education since 1996. He started his career at Sisseton High School where he taught carpentry and drafting for 10yrs. He is currently working on finishing his degree with SDSU. Since 2007 he has been an instructor for Building Trades.

Doug Jerke

Doug Jerke

building trades technology
Doug Jerke has been the LATI Building Trades instructor since the fall of 1997. He has a Masters of Education degree from South Dakota State University, a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Dakota/Springfield,SD, and an Associate of Applied Science, Carpentry, and a VTTE (Vocational Technical Teacher Education) from USD/Springfield, SD. Doug previously worked for the Huron, SD Secondary Vocational School where he was the head vocational carpenter instructor. He is also an independent building contractor since 1981.

Trent Theye

Trent Theye

Trent has been a Building Trades Technology Instructor at Lake Area Technical Institute since 2005. He is a graduate of South Shore High School. After graduation he attended Lake Area for Building Trades and graduated in 2001. He has worked and gained his experience while working for Bachmann construction. During his spare time away from Lake Area Tech he is a self-employed contractor, who was recently married.
