MMS students organized the 8th Annual Christmas Angel Tree Project. Ornaments were sold to students, faculty and employees, businesses and friends. Money was raised to give away 660 lbs. of turkeys to deserving families over the Christmas holidays. The Women's Resource Center and the Boys & Girls Club helped in the distribution of the turkeys.
Habitat for Humanities Volunteers
During the month of October, nine students volunteered an average of 2.5 hours of their time to varnish and stain woodwork in the house that Habitat for Humanities was working on.
Farm Show Volunteers
During the farm show, twenty-eight students volunteered to help clerk sales. They worked with Great Western Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, and Dacotah Bank. Nine students also volunteered to assist with parking.
Prepared Taxes for Elderly and Low Income
Forty-six students were tested by the IRS to do income taxes for the low-income and elderly. Students are expected to prepare over 400 tax returns this year. Most of them are electronically filed and the clients receive a quick refund. The prerequisite for students doing this is to take and pass Tax Accounting.
