Hardware & Software Requirements

This page is set up to aid incoming students and answer questions pertaining to the resources and computer equipment needed to efficiently complete this course. As with any online interactive course that requires the use of a computer and internet resources, the most up to date equipment is highly recommended.

Having a computer that is operating on the latest operating system, with an efficient processor, adequate memory and storage space will greatly benefit your on-line learning. It is also very important to have a high speed internet connection (cable or DSL). Dial up connections may make it very difficult or impossible to attain some of the program content. Your Internet provider will provide the software and access necessary to receive the online materials needed to take this course.

Online students will need to download the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel and Powerpoint 2007 files formats (all one download) from www.microsoft.com if they have a previous version, and it is free. They need to have Microsoft 2000 at least to be able to use the converter to open the files. Previous versions of Word won't open the Office 2007 because there is no converter available for them.

Software Requirements
The classes for this Mechanical Drafting course require their own specialized software.  Please check the requirements for each individual class to ensure you have the correct software installed to complete the coursework.

Web Browser Type
LATI course content is best viewed with Mozilla Firefox 2.0. Other browsers will work for most classes. However, there will be some Widows Media content that will require Internet Explorer.

E-mail Address
You will be provided with an active LATI e-mail account when enrolled in the course. This will be the account used for all class activity and correspondence. Instruction for use will be included with your packets. Check mail online click here.

Windows Media Player
Window Media Player 9.0 or higher is needed to view the steaming video included in this course. Media Player is a free download. Click here to down load or upgrade.
