SD Highway Patrol gives seminar

On February 2nd three members of the South Dakota Highway patrol were on hand to give a seminar on legal weights of over the road trucks. They also answered many other questions asked by students.

Digital Laser Alignment System

Diesel Technology recently purchased a new state of the art Digital Laser alignment system. Student have been trained on the use of this and have been aligning over the road trucks.

A.C.E.R.T Engine

Lake Area Tech. Diesel recently purchased a 2007 A.C.E.R.T. (advanced combustion emission research technology) C-15 Cat engine. This engine will be used in diesel engine tune-up class, fuel systems class as well as many other classes. Butler Cat provided some training on this engine.

john deere 7330 tractor

A new training aid arrived at Diesel Technology this fall. A new John Deere 7330 tractor, it will be used for electrical , heating ventilation, and air-conditioning training as well as G.P.S., Service advisor, fuel systems, and engine component identification.

On October 19th two representatives from John Deere Company were at Lake Area Tech, Diesel. They gave a presentation on G.P.S. (global positioning systems). They explained their three different levels of accuracy, components needed, and auto-steer systems.

cat sis training

On October 18th 2007 a representative from Butler Caterpillar was at Lake Area Tech. Diesel. He trained students on the CAT SIS (service information system) this is a computer based program used for Parts, Service procedures, specs, Bulletins and technical assistance.

Caterpillar Applied Failure Analysis

LATI Diesel Tech. students attended a 5 day class to learn how to determine the root cause of mechanical failures. An instructor from Butler Machinery in Fargo North Dakota presented the class Nov. 26th-30th.
