Certifications

Certifications in Aviation - aviation.jpg (6 kb)The FAA requires an extensive testing process of men and women seeking certification to repair and maintain aircraft.  Aviation program graduates are certified FAA Airframe and Powerplant technicians.

Upon completion of all Lake Area Technical Institute academic courses and the school's final test, students are eligible to take their FAA written tests.  Finally, upon successful completion of the written FAA test, an FAA oral and practical test is administered.

Lake Area Tech is an FAA-authorized testing site.  The written, oral, and practical testing takes place on the main campus and at the airport annex.

The FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate enables graduates to work on a wide array of equipment such as turbine engines, reciprocating engines, fixed wing aircraft ranging in size from Piper Cubs to Boeing 747s, rotorcraft, or components of aircraft which are repaired in "back shops."  The wide range of opportunities are unbounded!  You can take a look at this web site's "Opportunities" icon to see where some of our graduates find employment.
