Frequently Asked Questions about the E-Degree
Lake Area Tech's CIS E-Degree is a set of hand picked courses from the Computer Information System's curriculum that are offered completely online. This FAQ presentation will assist you in finding out if LATI's E-Degree is the right fit for you.
What are the cutoff dates for applying for the CIS E-Degree
CIS does not have a cutoff date for admissions. Early applications are recommended, however, to guarantee your spot in the program.

Are there any entrance exams I need to take before becoming accepted?
If you have not taken a recent ACT test, you will need to take a TABE test for admission to the program
If you are not seeking a degree and just want to pick up a few classes, no entrance exam is required.
What are the computer requirements?

Do I need to attend any on-campus courses, seminars or events?
If you are only attending on-line classes, a special orientation session will be arranged for you. In this session, you will learn to use the eLearning system to complete your coursework.
If you are attending a mixture of classes (on-line and on-campus), your orientation will be during one of your on-campus classes.
Will my credits transfer to other colleges?
LATI has articulation agreements with many other colleges and universities. Check the Articulation Agreements link for more information. Most of the articulation agreements specify a student must graduate from the LATI program in order for the credits to transfer.
The CIS department, specifically, also has a 2+2 agreement with Mount Marty College (located on LATI's campus) to earn a bachelors degree. Check the B.A. Degree link for more information
Is there Financial Aid available?
Any student enrolled in six or more credits may be eligible to receive financial aid. Contact the LATI financial aid office for more information.
Will I have an advisor?
The CIS Online Advisor (Don Armstrong - CIS Instructor) will answer any questions you have while you are applying to LATI. Once you are enrolled, you will be assigned an academic advisor.
Are there any prerequisites for the courses I will be taking?
Although not required, the following courses would be beneficial to this course of study prior to attending LATI: Math, Accounting, Communications, General Business, English, and Computer Concepts.
Also, each individual class may have a prerequisite. Please check the course listing or class syllabus to determine if there is a prerequisite. Your advisor can also answer questions about prerequisites.
When do I start my classes?
Classes begin on the first day of LATI's semester. On-line students have the luxury of working whenever and wherever they choose, but still must adhere to teh deadlines and due dates set by the instructor for individual classes.
