Melissa joined the Lake Area Tech team in August 2013. She is a graduate with high distiction of the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor's Degree in Management. Melissa's background in entrepreneurship includes 10 years as the owner of Mr. T.'s Sports Bar & Grill. In her free time, she enjoys being with people, traveling, reading, and spending time with family.
Tom is an instructor of several classes in the Business Associate program at LATI and is also the BSA department supervisor. A graduate of Watertown High School, Tom went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations and Marketing from North Dakota State University. Prior to working at LATI, Tom traveled the country as the exhibit manager for the Bodies Human exhibition. In Tom's free time he can be found on the golf course, playing guitar, or enjoying the outdoors.
Dennis instructs the Design Fundamentals course. He currently has 23 years of experience teaching design in the Watertown School District. Dennis graduated from Black Hills State University with a degree in Art Education in 1989. He has run his own pottery business for 10 years.
Mary teaches in the business associate program. After graduating from the LATI Medical Assistant Program, she went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities and an MBA from the University of Denver. She has management experience with Pitney Bowes, AT&T, and Lucent Technologies. Mary has owned her own consulting business and has worked in Uganda, South Sudan, East Timor, and Afghanistan. She spent four years in Uganda as a United Nations Volunteer and presently has a women empowerment program training women entrepreneurs in Uganda.
Rich teaches in the Business Law option. He received both a BA in History/Political Science and an MA in History from the University of South Dakota. He has also done post-graduate work at the University of Wyoming, the University of Kansas, and Southern Methodist University. Rich taught for 19 years in Newcastle, WY. He has been teaching at the Watertown high school for 13 years. He lives at Lake Kampeska with his wife and youngest (of three) sons. Rich likes to hunt, fish, travel, and collect antiques.
